Social + mobile + web entrepreneur extraordinaire. George developed and launched dozens of successful apps and startups, including internet services company, Dotster, and the digital social marketing platform, Woobox. George’s expertise ranges from digital and social marketing to product management, coding, big data, and analytics.
With a perpetual smile and disarming manner, George shrewdly helps startups identify potential challenges and opportunities with an uncanny ability to see around corners.
Investing in Oregon is a point of pride for George—being able to see the positive impact and quality of life improve right where he lives.
George spearheaded the fund’s investment in Meridian (acquired by Aruba/HP) and currently serves as our lead with Muut and Customer.io.
A force of nature within the local entrepreneur community. One of the most connected and respected investors and mentors in Portland, Julie brings to OAF a passion for startups and, in particular, helping women entrepreneurs succeed with ambitious, highly scalable businesses.
She has over 21 years of experience working with clients from the tech industry to natural resource to real estate. As a portfolio manager at Morgan Stanley, where she also serves on the firm’s Alternative Investments Council, Julie helps connect local growth companies with top industry analysts, VCs, and private equity firms worldwide.
Resume aside, her human approach is one of the things companies love most about her. “I navigate the complexities, so [new businesses] can focus on the people, issues, and activities that they care about.”
Barb brings a deep expertise in commercial real estate technology, services, development, and investing to the fund. Her reputation and relationships in the industry have proved invaluable, and her high expectations contribute to a persistent, yet gentle, drive toward excellence that affects all who work with her.
Across the fund and portfolio, she’s well known and respected for her incisive judgment and her keen ability to see the forest for the trees.
In addition to serving on our S(p)eed Squad, Barb leads OAF’s investment in Green Zebra Grocery, serving on their board.
Drew is one of our most active and respected advisors—a professional investor with the personal approach of a true Oregonian.
Drew is known for his uniquely valuable insights with respect to strategy, business development, and structuring investments, informed by his awesomely impressive history. Associate partner at McKinsey, head of corporate development at Tripwire, and managing director of Intel Capital, the world’s largest corporate VC.
Drew’s enthusiasm for passionate, disciplined founders and the accelerating vibrancy of Oregonian startups brought him to the fund, but he lists our family-like atmosphere and Founder Eric Rosenfeld’s “goofy humor” as pluses.
A recipient of the OAF Archangel Award, Drew currently represents the fund on the boards of Jama, Chinook Book, and Veelo.
With a strong passion for entrepreneurship, sustainability, and Oregon, Brad was a natural fit for the fund from the start.
As a co-founder of Pixelworks, he helped take the Oregon-based, industry leading digital-display chipmaker public in 2000. He was an early team member and marketing director for InFocus. And later joined a clean tech VC, where he co-founded Pivotal Investments.
We assume it’s this amazing combination of successful entrepreneur and tech marketing experience, matched with his institutional investing expertise that enables Brad to so easily frame entrepreneurial challenges and so quickly evaluate the potential of tech and consumer markets.
For Brad, it’s not just about finding great business ideas, it’s about finding great entrepreneurs who work with great teams—not just people you want to work with, but people you’d want to invite over for dinner.
